Baglini having big season for Notre Dame

Maybe it’s just because he’s a senior.

That’s the reason why Notre Dame-West Haven coach Lou Kessler says shortstop Christian Baglini is having a tremendous season at the plate.

“Sometimes seniors just step up,” Kessler said. “They know this is it. Especially in baseball. It’s spring time. You graduate in a month.”

Baglini, who will play at Stonehill next year, is batting around .350 with 17 RBIs and two home runs. He had two hits and two RBIs in the Green Knights 11-0 win over Hamden on Friday.

He set the tone with an unbelievable preseason, which included four triples in one game against Sheehan. He is coming into his own at shortstop, filling some big shoes left by Conor Keniry (now playing at Wake Forest). Baglini and second baseman Mike Panza is one the best combinations up the middle in the SCC.
