Snubbed

North Branford senior Sage Leonard came up with a triple to drive in the tying run and scored the go-ahead run to lead the Thunderbirds to a huge Class M first-round win over East Haven on Tuesday. He then helped North Branford coast into the quarterfinals with an 11-2 win over Granby Memorial.

Perhaps he’s playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, after being left off the All-Shoreline Conference team.

Biggest all-league snub? Without question. How was he left off the team?

Along with being a solid defensive catcher, Leonard hit .464 with 17 RBIs during the regular season.

He will play one year at Manchester Community College. But for now, he will continue to help lead the Thunderbirds in the state tournament and prove his critics wrong.

A possible selection in next week's MLB Draft, Romano has signed on to play at the University of Tennessee.
