Baseball at Harbor Yard moved

 Possible rain changes Saturday schedule

#ctbase -- According to St. Joseph athletic director Jim Olayos, the three games scheduled to be played at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport have been moved due to the possibility of inclement weather.

Xavier will play at Foran at 11 a.m. on Saturday and No. 6 Shelton will play at No. 10 Amity at 11 a.m. as well on Saturday. No. 6 St. Joseph will battle Seymour on May 8 at 7 p.m. at Harbor Yard. The St. Joseph game will benefit juvenile diabetes, according to Olayos.

Olayos said anyone who purchased tickets for the two Southern Connecticut Conference games, that were also going to benefit juvenile diabetes, can get a refund at their school.

The St. Joseph AD said he is disappointed that possible rain forced them to move the game. However, he said he would rather move the games and play one game instead of running the risk of having a less than stellar turnout for all three games that were all being played for a good cause.

No other teams will play on May 8 at Harbor Yard with St. Joe's and Seymour. That is the only game on the schedule in the Park City that night.

Ya, I can see how this terrible horrible weather we are having today would warrant cancelling the games. Next time, maybe Mr. Olayos should consult a meteorologist instead of going off and cancelling stuff more than 24 hours out. Who does that???

I believe it was b/c of the cost to use Harbor Yard. They didn't wanna risk it and have a bad turnout when they could just move the game to different day and not have to worry about it. They moved their game to HY in May and Pat Pickens reported Bunnell and ND-Fairfield will be playing there as well. I just wonder what happens if it rains on that day as well?
