SCC tournament predictions

I'm probably better off picking out of a hat because of this year's parity. Based on my pitching-matchup projections, here's how the SCC tournament should go...

Quaterfinals, Tuesday
No. 2 Branford vs. No. 7 Notre Dame-West Haven at West Haven High, 4 p.m.: The Green Knights have lost two extra-games to the Hornets this season. But that was without ace Gary Flowers on the mound. He makes a difference.
Pick: Notre Dame-West Haven

No. 3 Fairfield Prep vs. No. 6 Sheehan at West Haven High, 7 p.m.: The Titans always succeed in the postseason and they have beaten Jesuits top pitcher Anthony Redamonti twice already.
Pick: Sheehan

No. 4 West Haven vs. No. 5 Cheshire at Quigley Stadium, 4 p.m.: Probably the toughest game to predict in the opening round. Cheshire has the most talent in the SCC and it's likely Max Slade will be on the mound. But can't go against Eric Stone and a team coached by Mike Anquillare.
Pick: West Haven

No. 1 Amity vs. No. 8 Foran at Quigley Stadium, 7 p.m.: E.J. Ashworth helps the Spartans bounce back after a two-game skid.
Pick: Amity

Semifinals, Thursday at Yale Field, 4 and 7 p.m.
No. 7 Notre Dame-West Haven vs. No. 6 Sheehan: If the weather holds up, this will be the Green Knights third game in as many days. The Titans get the best of a worn down Notre Dame squad.
Pick: Sheehan

No. 4 West Haven vs. No. 1 Amity: Jeremy Soule has the talent, but has been inconsistent. However, so has the Spartans' secondary pitchers. Amity has the better offense though, and the Spartans beat West Haven twice.
Pick: Amity

Championship, Saturday at Yale Field, noon
No. 6 Sheehan vs. No. 1 Amity: A nice run by the Titans, but the Spartans win their fourth SCC title.
Pick: Amity

If Stone gets by Cheshire, I agree but if he doesn't ...Cheshire has the best staff and is set for tourney play. If they get to the finals the best pitcher and player in the state will be on the mound. Look for Dom Severino to prove me right. Hitting wise he never sees a fastball but batting over 500 against the best league in the state. Pitching wise .33 era, 3-0 and if he wasnt in reserve all year waiting to close games,he would be on the radar..two two hitters in his last two starts...throws 90 plus..He will be one of the few to pitch, play the field and hit at a D1 college! CCSU got a gem!

Wonder why the early postponement today ? Its now 215 and bright and sunny . Think maybe a couple of the influential SCC schools wanted an extra day of rest for their star pitchers who just pitched Friday and Saturday ???

OR IS THAT JUST A COINCIDENCE
