Shelton knocks off No. 5 Amity
Touch 'em All update#ctbase --The last time Shelton played Amity it didn't end so well for the Gaels. Shelton lost on a walk-off single from Amity's Paul Gusmano. This time around for Shelton, things went according to plan as the Gaels upset No. 5 Amity 4-1.
"We lost to them the first time," Gura said. "It was a walkoff loss, so we knew what it was going to take to beat them."
The Gaels had Ryan Testani go up against Mike Concato. Concato threw a no-hitter last week.
"It was ace vs. ace," Gura said.
The Gaels got strong contributions from Bryan Kondor, whose base hit tied the game, and Ryan Zahornasky, who had a two-run double with the bases loaded to give Shelton the lead. Ryan Daiss also added a RBI
"We had some big hits," Gura said.
Shelton (11-3, unranked) faces Sheehan, Lyman Hall and Hand to close out the week. Are they a Top-10 team?
"I think we have the capability to be a Top-10 team," Gura said. "I think we just have to be more consistent."
However, he went on to say: "I'd rather end the season in the Top-10 then worry about what's going on during the season."
