Shelton knocks off No. 5 Amity
Touch 'em All update
#ctbase --The last time Shelton played Amity it didn't end so well for the Gaels. Shelton lost on a walk-off single from Amity's Paul Gusmano. This time around for Shelton, things went according to plan as the Gaels upset No. 5 Amity 4-1."We lost to them the first time," Gura said. "It was a walkoff loss, so we knew what it was going to take to beat them."
The Gaels had Ryan Testani go up against Mike Concato. Concato threw a no-hitter last week.
"It was ace vs. ace," Gura said.
The Gaels got strong contributions from Bryan Kondor, whose base hit tied the game, and Ryan Zahornasky, who had a two-run double with the bases loaded to give Shelton the lead. Ryan Daiss also added a RBI
"We had some big hits," Gura said.
Shelton (11-3, unranked) faces Sheehan, Lyman Hall and Hand to close out the week. Are they a Top-10 team?
"I think we have the capability to be a Top-10 team," Gura said. "I think we just have to be more consistent."
However, he went on to say: "I'd rather end the season in the Top-10 then worry about what's going on during the season."

Shelton should be ranked- beat 3 top 10 teams when they were ranked- no one else has.. S schools cant compete - whole NVL is weak.. SCC is the best competition. 3 FCIAC schools who play each other only once? come on. play each other twice and then see.. like the SCC does it..
Shelton's resume is strong. The Gaels don't have bad losses either. I think if they can finish the week without a loss, they will crack the poll. I say 8 or 7.
The SCC doesn't play everyone twice. That is false. You play your division twice
all the SCC crossovers are played twice.. 1s play 1s twice. etc.. 2:04 pm comment- anonymous.. know your facts..division yes twice. but also crossovers twice.. a 1 -2 only plays 1-2 in strength of schedule. check all the teams out in SCC - play each other twice on THEIR OWN SCHEDULE
So Chesire who might be stacked next year because they have a young team with play a weak schedule because they weren't good this year? That sounds real smart.
better than how the FCIAC does it and has best teams play bottom of the barrel with no shot for those teams
