Should Derby crack the poll?

#ctbase -- Sal Frosceno struck out seven and pitched a complete game shutout to lead Derby over Seymour 2-0 on Friday. Frosceno only allowed four hits, all singles. Ray Kreiger and Colin Haydu had one RBI each for the Red Raiders who improved to 13-1.

The Red Raiders lost 3-2 to St. Paul Catholic back on April 16. Since then, Derby has won eight in a row. North Branford should get some love in this week's poll. NB has won eight of its last nine games, not including Friday's (May 4) game. So my question to you is: Who should get in the poll next week?

Shelton is a good pick. The Gaels have won four out of their last five.

Baseball is played by the nine players on the field. Nowhere does it say, nor should it, that you have to be from a LL school to be recognized for good play. I remind you, Derby is a S school who has played several LL, L and M schools what does it take to be recognized, record 13-1. Check out the Hartford Current poll, they have it right, and no Shelton!

True, I think Shelton would have an edge b/c it is a SCC school, not b/c of class size. If Derby played in the SCC, they'd be in it. Would've never fell out of it.

If Derby played in SCC they'd be lucky to have won 7 games, nevermind being ranked. Derby used to be an SCC whipping boy for years until they left. The polls arent an SCC poll and I dont think anyone is disrepescting other conferences, I think the point that was trying to be made was that the strongest conferences usually have the strongest teams and thus polls should be judged on quality of competition played to get a true value of the team/quality etc.. Tough to swallow but true and similar to college basketball. Accept it because its reality.

Exactly, people look at the SCC as the power conference for baseball. And they def. see it as stronger than the NVL. So a 13-1 NVL team most likely won't get as much respect as a 13-1 SCC team. Not fair, but, when you're not able to watch every game and see every team you do just go off record, strength of schedule and strength of conference.

Derby used to play in the SCC and couldnt handle it.. NVL is not a baseball conference.. Derby is not that good. They play a weak schedule- WOLCOTT? come on... they would have 6 losses in SCC by now..
