GOOD EYE: Guilford's Rubino and Nerney combine on a no-hitter

What Rubino and Nerney said resoundingly on Saturday




Nick Rubino and Luke Nerney combined on a no-hitter for Guilford in a 3-0 Southern Connecticut Conference Hammonasset Division win over host Law Saturday in Milford.

Dante Parisi had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for the Indians (4-2).

East Haven 4, Hand 1: Andrew Hinckley hit a two-run double for the visiting Easties in this SCC interdivision win at Madison.

East Haven scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie.
Nick Lamberti had three hits, including a double, and Matt Wynne had two hits for the Easties (1-5).

Morgan 6, Barlow 0: Mike Austin hit a two-run double for the host Huskies in this non-league win at Clinton.

Ron Buchetto allowed just four hits to earn the win for Morgan (2-3).

North Branford 5, Coginchaug 1: Brandan Basil had two RBIs, Kyle Hart, Nick Perrelli and Matt Edwards doubled and Mike Schettino pitched a complete game in a Shoreline victory on the road.

Chris Caron also doubled for the Thunderbirds (5-1) in the win over the Blue Devils (4-2).

Woodland 3, Ansonia 2: Anthony Scirpo tripled and scored for the host Hawks in this Naugatuck Valley League win at Beacon Falls.
Anthony Ross pitched a complete game and allowed just six hits for Woodland (2-4).

Darwin Elias doubled and scored and Adam Thayer allowed six hits and struck out eight for the Chargers (1-5).

No. 6 Xavier 3, West Haven 2 (9): Matt Albanese had two hits and drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning to lift the visiting Falcons to this SCC Quinnipiac Division win at West Haven.

Jack Gethings had two hits, including an RBI double, and scored twice and Mike Purcell had two hits and an RBI for Xavier (6-0).

Matt Carter and Jay Wilkerson each drove in runs for the Westies (3-3).

Haddam-Killingworth 10, Ellington 3: Brian Moskey hit a three-run double to lift the host Cougars to this non-league win at Higganum.

Griffin Bremer, Jake DeCarli and Nick Landell also had hits for H-K (3-1).

Bremer scattered five hits and struck out four to earn his second victory of the season.
